Jessica Shepard is in a back-and-forth battle with Angel Reese after recording another double-double performance in the Dallas Wings’ clash with the New York Liberty on Monday night.
Shepard is going through the sixth year of her WNBA career, her first with the Wings. She embraced a new chapter after leaving the Minnesota Lynx, going to Dallas this past offseason.
The move has proved to be a major success for both parties. Shepard has become more active on the scoring front, while Dallas is winning more games than they did last season.

In 38 minutes of action, Shepard was active on the stat sheet in Dallas’ contest against New York. She finished with a stat line of 13 points, 16 rebounds and six assists. This allowed her to record her 17th double-double this season, competing with Reese in the double-double race.

Despite Jessica Shepard’s efforts, the Wings came up short without Paige Bueckers as they lost 99-98 to the Liberty.
Bueckers missed the game due to concussion protocol, prompting other players to step up. However, Dallas lost a nine-point lead in the fourth quarter as New York took control of the momentum and escaped with the road win in overtime.
Five players scored in double-digits for Dallas in the loss, including Shepard. Arike Ogunbowale led the team with a stat line of 29 points, six assists, five rebounds, and one steal. She shot 9-of-24 overall, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and 8-of-8 from the free-throw line. Azzi Fudd came next with 15 points and two assists, Maddy Siegrist had 13 points and three rebounds, while Awak Kuier provided 10 points and four blocks.
Dallas fell to a 17-9 record on the season, sitting at fourth place in the Western Conference standings. They are above the Portland Fire and the Los Angeles Sparks while trailing the Las Vegas Aces and the Golden State Valkyries.
The Wings will look to bounce back in their next matchup, being on the road. They take on the Fire as tip-off takes place on July 22 at 10 p.m. ET.
