(KRON) — Two alleged package thieves who are accused of targeting homes in Belmont and San Mateo were arrested on Monday.

The suspects were identified as Ernie Suazo, 31, of San Jose, and Jessica Navarro, 48, of Redwood City, according to the San Mateo Police Department.

Just after 7:30 a.m. Monday, a resident on George Avenue in San Mateo called police to report that there were suspicious people loitering outside. The caller was “concerned due to an increase in package thefts recently,” SMPD wrote.

Investigators tracked down the suspects’ vehicle while it was parked in Laurie Meadows Shopping Center. “Employees of a nearby restaurant advised officers two subjects associated with the vehicle had entered the business and were in the restroom,” the police department wrote.

Officers questioned Suazo and Navarro as they were leaving the restroom. Inside their car, officers found stolen packages belonging to several Belmont residents, police said.

Suazo and Navarro were booked into the San Mateo County Jail for possession of stolen property.

The San Mateo Police Department is attempting to find additional victims. If you are missing a package, you are encouraged to file a police report.
