Motorcycle crash closes southbound I-255 near Route 162 in Madison County

Traffic is being diverted at Illinois 162 while a crash reconstruction team remains at the scene.

A crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle has closed a section of southbound Interstate 255 in Madison County.

Illinois State Police responded to the crash near the Illinois 162 exit at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 21.

Southbound I-255 is closed from Illinois 162 to the Horseshoe Lake Road exit. Motorists already on the interstate are being detoured at Illinois 162 and directed to Illinois 111 and Horseshoe Lake Road.

A crash reconstruction team remains at the scene. Information about injuries was not immediately available.
