The last couple of weeks have seen the Milwaukee Brewers juggling their starting rotation, especially when it comes to their ace, two-time All-Star Jacob Misiorowski. Right before the All-Star break, Milwaukee scratched Misiorowski from his start against the Pittsburgh Pirates. What is more, he did not pitch in the actual All-Star Game, nor did he appear in the Brewers’ first series after the break.
All along, the team stated that the long rest was due to fatigue as the 24-year-old flamethrower approaches his career-high in innings pitched. His first start of the second-half came on Monday night, but he only lasted four innings after throwing just 65 pitches.
The decision to pull Misiorowski early had fans concerned.

Fortunately, the NL Cy Young favorite is not dealing with an injury. Instead, the Brewers are just trying to preserve his arm for later in the year. Additionally, the long time in between starts resulted in Misiorowski needing to ramp up a bit again.
Earlier today,it was reported that Milwaukee was going to push his next start back to Monday, opting to have Brandon Sproat pitch on four days’ rest in what would have been Misiorowski’s next scheduled start on Sunday.
It appears, however, that they have changed their mind:
This decision was made before Sproat had yet another frustrating outing. On Tuesday night, he threw 99 pitches in 4.2 innings and allowed two runs. He struggled to find the strike zone consistently and got into numerous full counts.
Misiorowski is 10-4 on the season and leads Major League Baseball in ERA (1.57), WHIP (0.77), and strikeouts (173).
