The Milwaukee Bucks are in the early phases of their process to completely move on from the stunning trade of Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat. Antetokounmpo left a big void that Milwaukee will have to fill one way or another, and it may take time for that to happen.

Nevertheless, there are encouraging signs for the team already. For one, rookie Brayden Burries showed plenty of promise during the recently concluded NBA Summer League.

In fact, the former Arizona Wildcats star was named to the All-Summer League First Team, thanks to his strong showing in Las Vegas. In four games, Burries averaged 23.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists and shot 50 percent from the field and knocked down 36.4 percent of his attempts from behind the 3-point line.

Bucks rookie make Summer League history with honor

Also, Burries, selected 10th by Milwaukee in the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft, became just the first guard ever in the history of the Bucks franchise to make the All-Summer League First Team.

Burries showed tremendous poise in the Summer League, which was reflected by the fact that he only committed a total of three turnovers despite a seemingly significant usage.

Milwaukee won just two of its three assignments in the Summer League, but that sub-.500 record does not and should not diminish what Burries was able to do on the court.
