A broken power pole was hanging in the middle of a San Luis Obispo County highway, blocking traffic in one direction while repairs were underway early Tuesday morning.
At 1:12 a.m., a car reported almost being hit by a power pole hanging in the middle of Highway 41 at Toro Creek Road, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page.
At 1:46 a.m., it was reported the pole was sheared off its base, blocking the westbound lane, the information page said.
Calls for repairs and a tow truck were made just before 2 a.m., but one-way traffic around the lane closure had picked up by 5:17 a.m. with repairs yet to be made, the page said.
At 6:36 a.m., traffic control was predicted to still be in place for another four to five hours, the page said.
At 9:54 a.m., there was still no estimated time for reopening traffic, according to Caltrans Quickmap. Traffic appeared to be impacted on Highway 41 around Toro Creek Road, according to the map.
