The Buffalo Bills are leaving the old in the past and bringing in the new this season, as they’ll be playing in a new stadium when the year starts. The old Highmark Stadium is being torn down as we speak, and the upper deck was just seen coming down, showing the end of an era.
Fans will definitely love the new stadium, and the players should as well, according to ESPN.
“The new stadium has an open-air design but provides significant coverage from the elements, with a roof canopy covering 64% of attendees,” ESPN wrote. “The team made it a priority to keep fans as close to the field as possible, and the club moved the first row on one of the sidelines 54 feet closer to the gridiron than that of the former stadium. Fans will also be welcomed with a new area outside the stadium that includes three bison statues that will be lit up for the opener.”
The Bills will play their first game in the stadium on Sept. 17 against the Detroit Lions, which will be Thursday Night Football.
Outside of the new stadium, the Bills will once again have high expectations for their team this season. The offense may have improved after the Bills traded for DJ Moore in the offseason, and he’s close to the WR1 that they’ve been looking for.
Joe Brady was already in control of the offense, but he’ll now have say-so of the entire team as he was promoted to head coach after the Bills parted ways with Sean McDermott.
It’ll be interesting to see if this is the season the Bills can finally get over the hump and make a Super Bowl run, but it won’t be easy when looking at the other teams across the AFC.
