The Oklahoma City Thunder have two more seasons left to play in the Paycom Center, where they won the 2025 NBA championship and have established a dominant home court advantage over the years. The Thunder will next move into the Continental Coliseum, which is currently in the early phases of construction.
Recently, Oklahoma City mayor David Holt announced a major update regarding that process: that crews had begun pouring concrete for the venue.
“Progress continues on our new arena, which is one of the most aspirational projects in our city’s history,“ Holt said, per Isabel Contreras of News on 6, via Hoopshype. “This first concrete placement is another milestone in the journey, and we know this means that soon we’ll see our new arena rising out of the ground.”

Project director Josh Patterson also spoke on the construction process.
“Construction crews will begin placing the pier caps, along with two large mat foundations,” Patterson, who is with Flintco|Mortenson, said. “Pier caps act like the ‘feet’ of the building’s deep foundation system, connecting groups of underground piers that serve as the ‘legs’ supporting the future arena.”
Meanwhile, the Thunder have also had a busy offseason with their current team, salary dumping Lu Dort, Aaron Wiggins, and Isaiah Joe in an attempt to get under the second apron. Oklahoma City will bank on continued development from promising young players like Ajay Mitchell and Jared McCain next season in hopes of not missing a beat despite the various departures.
The Paycom Center, which has gone through various name changes in the past, has seen some excellent basketball over the years, dating back to the days of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook beginning in the late 2000’s.
However, the Thunder are gearing up to turn the page to their new home.
