'Big Brother 28' spoilers: Who won the power of veto (week 2)?

WARNING! THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS ABOUT BIG BROTHER 28!The Big Brother 28 week 2 Power of Veto competition has been played, and its winner is Rick Devens. Week 2 Head of Household (HOH) Devens nominated Jason De Puy, Lyric Medeiros, and Melody Morris for eviction, but his actual target was Rome Seymour, who he hoped to backdoor. After the nomination ceremony, the houseguests had some explosive arguments, exposing each other's games and strategies.

The Big Brother 28 live feeds have revealed that Devens won the week 2 Power of Veto competition. The Power of Veto players were Devens (HOH); Jason, Lyric, and Melody (the nominees), and Angela and Barrett Pfeiffer. This means that Devens holds all of the power this week. Plus, he doesn't have to worry about another power being unleashed into the game because Angela Murray lost the first Time Capsule game and received Vince Panaro's Big Brother 27 Egg Detective punishment costume instead of a power.

What Rick Devens Winning The Power Of Veto Means For Big Brother 28

Now that Devens has won the Power of Veto, he can put his plan to backdoor Rome into motion. He'll have to choose one of his nominees to save, and it would make the most sense for him to leave Rome's showmance, Lyric, on the chopping block in order to take away a vote for Rome to stay. This means that Devens will most likely take either Melody or Jason off of the chopping block. As of now, it seems that he'll save Melody.

Rome Could Still Win The BB Block Buster

Although Devens can put his plan to backdoor Rome in motion, there's no guarantee that it'll be successful. In the new era of Big Brother, it's not truly possible to backdoor someone in the traditional sense because they'll always have the chance to save themselves in the BB Block Buster competition right before the live eviction. Rome won one of the first competitions of the season, which earned him safety in week 1, so he's already proven that he has what it takes to win under pressure. He has an excellent chance of winning the BB Block Buster, which would ruin Devens' plan to backdoor him.

If both Rome and Lyric end up staying in the game, that could be bad news for Devens if they win HOH. However, Devens has the Toolshed alliance, the combination of The Crossovers (Devens, Dee, Angela, Barrett, and Drew Campbell) and The Red Corner (Devens, Dee, Kamu Kirk, Haley Thogmartin, and Chuk Anyanwu) to protect him. Unless something drastically changes, it's unlikely that Devens will be going anywhere any time soon.

With Dee and Devens being back-to-back HOHs, the power has been in the hands of the Survivor legends for the entire game. Now that Devens has won his second competition in a row, he's establishing himself as an even bigger threat. If Rome ends up saving himself in the BB Block Buster, it'll be interesting to see if the newbies start to rally against him. Whatever happens next, Big Brother 28 fans should continue to "expect the unexpected."
