'BB28': Inside houseguest Yash Patel's FOX game show winnings

Big Brother 28 houseguest Yash Patel is one of the new contestants in the reality competition series this summer, but it isn't his first television appearance, as he already won a FOX game show with his family. Yash is a 24-year-old financial analyst from Monroe Township, NJ. He quickly proved himself to be a strong competitor in the Big Brother 28 house, as he was nominated for eviction by week 1 Head of Household (HOH) Dee Valladares, after she'd promised him safety, but he saved himself by winning the BB Block Buster competition on the live eviction episode.

Yash isn't the only Big Brother 28 houseguest who's previously competed on another TV show. In a twist, Survivor winner Dee Valladares and legend Rick Devens joined the show along with Big Brother 26 star Angela Murray, who also competed on The Amazing Race season with her daughter, Lexi. Before Big Brother 26, Angela had appeared on Let's Make a Deal and The Price Is Right, along with House Calls with Dr. Phil, a non-competition reality series. Dee, Devens, and Angela are part of a twist in which they were unleashed in the game as reality TV icons.

Although Dee, Devens, and Angela were presented as the Big Brother 28 reality TV icons, several of their fellow houseguests have also appeared in other reality TV shows. Jason De Puy competed in RuPaul's Drag Race season 15 and RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 11, while Lyric Medeiros made it to Hollywood Week in American Idol season 21. Also, Kamu Kirk competed in Dana White's Contender Series season 3 and Drew Campbell competed in Beast Games season 1.

Big Brother 28 Houseguest Yash Patel Competed On FOX's The Quiz With Balls With His Family

In 2025, Big Brother 28 houseguest Yash competed on FOX's game show, The Quiz with Balls, with his family. Hosted by Jay Pharoah, the game requires contestants to answer questions about pop culture and general knowledge correctly, or they are pushed into a large pool of water by giant balls. Yash and his family appeared in season 2 episode 4, titled "Pushing the Limit: Mind vs. Miles." Yash shared photos from the experience on his Instagram page.

Yash played The Quiz with Balls with his mother, Ashanti; his father, Aumil; his older brother, Darsh; and his sister, Pradhi. They competed against the Smith family. Darsh was the team leader. When Darsh introduced Yash, he described him as "competitive, fiery" and said, "he's here to hold it down." Darsh declared that their family was as "competitive as it gets," and Yash agreed, stating, "That's what we do. If he does good, I'm doing better." Yash's mother shared that they were raised that way.

Yash & His Family Won $46K On The Quiz With Balls

During their stint on The Quiz with Balls, Yash and his family won $46,000. They won the game, defeating the Smith family, and made it to the Bonus Round, during which it's possible to win $100,000. Team leader Darsh competed in the final round, in which he had to answer five questions correctly. The family chose the category of Astronomy, but Darsh had to answer the questions on his own. He got the first question wrong, which was, "Iron oxide gives which planet its distinct red color?" He chose Mercury, but the answer was Mars. Even though they didn't win the grand prize, Yash and his family took home the impressive $46,000 that they'd earned previously in the game.

Although Yash and his family didn't win the grand prize on The Quiz with Balls, Yash gained something even more important from his game show experience. He learned what it feels like to compete under intense pressure, make split-second decisions, and work as a team for a common goal, all of which are essential to be successful in Big Brother and win the $750,000 grand prize.

Surrounded by his family during The Quiz with Balls, Yash was cool and confident. Even though he's on his own in the Big Brother house, he's displayed those same qualities. He was able to confront Dee about nominating him despite promising him safety without making an enemy, which shows that he has strong social skills. Dee even apologized to him.

In addition, Yash showed quick thinking when his back was against the wall during the BB Block Buster competition, and he guaranteed his safety by winning a memory game. He already had the skills needed to do this, but his experience on The Quiz with Balls gave him a preview of the pressures of Big Brother competitions. It'll be thrilling to see what Yash does next because he has the potential to win Big Brother 28.
