PJ Tucker sees that the Boston Celtics gained an edge after trading Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George.
Boston landed George and four draft picks from Philadelphia in exchange for Brown this summer. This ended a 10-year partnership between Brown and the Celtics, making the playoffs every year while winning the championship in 2024.
PJ Tucker appeared during a live episode of the Club 520 podcast with former player Jeff Teague. They discussed the trade between the Celtics and 76ers, as Tucker leaned towards Boston as the winners of the blockbuster deal.

“If you look at the playoffs series this year. PG might have had a better series than JB. So how does Philly win? I think it’s tough. I’m rocking with PG. Like, I’m hating how everybody I mean, respect to JB, but PG is still a hell of a player, if PG don’t get suspended and all that stuff don’t happen, then I think we having another conversation…. I’m still liking JT and PG in a series. I like the Celtics, bro,” Tucker said.
What lies ahead for Paul George, Celtics
Joe Mazzulla will look forward to the Celtics’ new-look roster next season. Even though they had an unfortunate ending to the Jaylen Brown era, Jayson Tatum stands out as the top star while Paul George and the additions assist him on the squad.
George continues to be solid at age 36 as he prepares for Year 17. Last season saw him average 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game throughout 37 appearances. In the playoffs, he produced 16.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and three assists per contest.
Boston exceeded expectations as they finished with a 56-26 record last season, securing the second seed in the Eastern Conference standings. However, they blew a 3-1 series lead as they lost to the Philadelphia 76ers in seven games during the first round of the playoffs.
The Celtics have plenty of questions to answer when it comes to improving their roster. They landed the players they wanted in the draft and free agency, now turning to training camp to prepare for the best expectations next season.
