Cleveland Guardians star third baseman Jose Ramirez is recovering from left hamate surgery while outfielder Angel Martinez is working his way back from a foot injury. It seems as if both Ramirez and Martinez could return soon. A number of updates were recently revealed in reference to their injury recoveries.
“Today’s a recovery day, and so tomorrow’s another work day,” Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said of Ramirez on Monday, via Mason Horodyski of News 5 Cleveland. “So we’re day to day with him. He’s feeling better. He’s feeling better each day. So tomorrow, I believe, is five weeks since surgery. So we’re just getting to the front side of that five to seven week window. That so for him to be feeling as good as he is right now, we feel really good about that.”
Meanwhile, Martinez is continuing his rehab assignment on Tuesday. Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports that the outfielder hit a home run while playing for Double-A Akron in the game.

Stebbins was asked by a fan if Ramirez would return in time for the Guardians’ upcoming series against the Rays, to which he responded, “My gut tells me he’ll be back by then.”
Cleveland is currently hosting the Minnesota Twins at Progressive Field. Their four-game series will conclude on Thursday. The Guards will then travel to play the Rays in Tampa Bay with the three-game series beginning on Friday.
Barring any setbacks, both Jose Ramirez and Angel Martinez are close to returning.
The Guardians are currently 53-48 and one game behind the Chicago White Sox for first place in the American League Central standings.
