Donald Trump’s communications advisor and “special assistant” faced backlash after posting a "embarrassing" clip of the president.
Margo Martin, a loyal aide to the president who he once called the "most beautiful photographer in the world," shared to X a video of Trump taking to the field at Sunday’s World Cup Final match-up between Spain and Argentina. “@POTUS walks on the field of MetLife Stadium,” she posted, attaching an American flag emoji to the end of her message. The brief clip shows the President walking out into the stadium field, waving to the crowd and taking his place on the podium, where he handed out medals to various players.
“Seriously, the most out of shape president in the history of the United States, wobbles out onto the field… Enough said,” posted one X user in response to the clip. The criticism comes after Trump called this year’s World Cup the greatest in history “by far.”

“Him walking looks like a lump of s– being dragged across the field,” wrote one particularly harsh critic of the president on social media. One comment called Trump an "embarrassment."
“He's literally being boo'd in this video,” added another user. Martin was accused of taking out the noise of boos from the crowd, who lambasted Trump. “The boos are everywhere,” echoed yet another.
The boos call to mind the third game of the 2026 NBA Finals, at which the president was met with jeering by the crowd at Madison Square Garden.

“You know that whistles are boos, right?” quipped a fourth poster.
“Who f—ing cares? He is just laundering our tax money and ignoring the will of the people as per usual and you morons lap it up,” scoffed another user.
Martin shared a plethora of footage of the president’s attendance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final game. She showed off Trump arriving to the game, saluting during the National Anthem and handing out medals among other activities.
Sunday’s game marks the first time a sitting U.S. president has attended a men’s World Cup game. Former President Bill Clinton was present for the Women’s final championship in 1999. Clinton gave opening remarks at the opening ceremony in 1994 but ultimately missed the final match-up. Clinton’s presidency was the last time that the U.S. hosted a World Cup tournament.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt spoke ahead of Trump’s appearance at the World Cup final.
“[Trump’s] attendance will cap what has been the most watched, most secure, and most successful World Cup in American history. This is a fitting conclusion to a tournament that showcased America’s ability to host the world on the grandest stage,” she told reporters.
