Mike Santana's surprise arrival on WWE NXT was one of the biggest moments of the July 21, 2026, episode, and his former company didn't stay quiet for long. TNA Wrestling publicly congratulated its former World Champion, showing that both sides ended their partnership on good terms.

Santana officially joined WWE full-time after weeks of rumors about his future. This week’s main event saw Tony D'Angelo successfully defend the NXT Championship against Naraku in the first-ever NXT Championship Street Fight. While D'Angelo celebrated his win, WWE finally revealed the mystery signing that General Manager Robert Stone had been teasing throughout the night.

Santana walked through the crowd and made his way to the ring without saying a word. He stared down D'Angelo, and the show ended. The moment immediately cemented Santana’s status as a future challenger for the NXT Championship.

Commentators Vic Joseph and Booker T only referred to him as a “new face,” although Santana had appeared on NXT before during WWE and TNA's crossover in 2025. However, this was his first appearance as a full-time WWE Superstar after leaving TNA.

TNA congratulates Mike Santana after his WWE NXT arrival

Less than a day after Santana appeared on NXT, TNA Wrestling posted a congratulatory message on Instagram. The company tweeted:

“Congratulations to @Santana_Proud on his monumental debut on last night’s @WWENXT!”

In wrestling, companies don't always acknowledge stars who move to another promotion, especially former world champions. That's why TNA's message stood out. It also showed that Santana's exit happened on friendly terms. Moreover, WWE and TNA have a partnership that continues to prosper.

Santana ended his TNA run at Slammiversary in late June, where he lost the TNA World Heavyweight Championship to Nic Nemeth. His contract officially expired on July 15, bringing an end to a successful run.
