Two weeks after Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce said “I do” in front of about 1,000 celebrity guests, Brad Paisley is sharing new details about the wedding, which he attended with his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley.
In an interview with the Associated Press, the 53-year-old country singer recalled receiving the exclusive invitation to the nuptials.
“They were very clear with the invite,” he said. “I took this personally when I got the invite, because in the invite, it said, ‘If you’re getting this, you mean a lot to us.’”
Paisley continued, “And it was really fun to watch the cat-and-mouse game of like, ‘We can tell you roughly where it’s gonna be. We’re not gonna say what building... And here’s the date, and if you’re in, we’ll tell you more.’ And I went to my wife, I said, ‘Want to go?’ She’s like, ‘Absolutely. We’ve gotta be there.’ So we did it. It was RSVP: yes.”
He then praised the ceremony itself.
“Ironically, one of the least pretentious weddings I’ve ever seen, or ever will see,” he said. “It was kind of a big thank you from her to invite us.”
Swift and Paisley have been friends for years. Ahead of their wedding, she and Kelce donated $26 million to various charities and causes they support, including Paisley and Kimberly’s nonprofit, The Store.
In a statement to People, the couple thanked Swift and Kelce for their “generosity.”
“We’re truly inspired by Taylor and Travis’s generosity to so many wonderful organizations, and extremely grateful that The Store is included among them,” the statement read. “This gift will go a long way toward helping our neighbors facing food insecurity in Nashville. What a beautiful way to celebrate the beginning of a marriage!”
In addition to The Store, Swift and Kelce also donated to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, City Harvest, New York Cares, Harvesters in Kansas City, Helping Harvest in Pennsylvania, Rhode Island Community Food Bank, Feeding America, the ASPCA, Grammy in the Schools, and many others, per People.
