At the halfway point in 2026, Taylor Sheridan has released several popular new shows, some connected to Yellowstone and others not. Sheridan’s latest show that has not expanded the story of the Duttons is The Madison, an emotionally charged Western starring Kurt Russell and Michelle Pfeiffer. Paramount has renewed The Madison for Seasons 2 and 3, but it’s unclear at this time when either new season will be released. When it came to expanding the Yellowstone universe, Sheridan relied on beloved characters like Kayce Dutton and Rip Wheeler to keep the momentum going with shows like Marshals and Dutton Ranch, both of which have also been renewed for Season 2. Yellowstone may be over, but Sheridan’s TV empire continues to grow, with other shows like Tulsa King and Mayor of Kingstown expected to return before the end of the year.
Another Taylor Sheridan-written and produced show confirmed to return in less than one month is Lioness, the Zoe Saldaña-led spy thriller that also stars Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman. Paramount announced last month that, after a two-year hiatus, Lioness Season 3 was officially returning on August 2, and the studio doubled down on that announcement this morning, dropping the first official trailer for Season 3 and confirming that the show will release on schedule. Michael Kelly, who told Collider earlier this year that Lioness Season 3 would be released at the end of the summer, also stars in Sheridan’s dark ops spy thriller, along with Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Genesis Rodriguez, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill, Hannah Love Lanier, and Ian Bohen.
What Is ‘Lioness’ Season 3 About?
Paramount has finally released the official synopsis for Lioness Season 3, which reads as follows: “In Season Three, hidden networks, foreign operatives, and personal betrayals collide. Joe (Saldaña) walks the line between duty and home as unseen forces circle her world. Patterns appear where they shouldn’t, names vanish, and paths rearrange. Guided by Kaitlyn (Kidman) and Westfield (Michael Kelly), Joe confronts enemies operating in the shadows, leaving her to reckon with a war that now reaches into every part of her life.”
While not officially confirmed, it’s heavily speculated that Lioness Season 3 will be the final season of the series. It was reported last year, around the time it was renewed, that Saldaña had signed a three-season deal to star in the show, and there have been no reports indicating that she or any of her co-stars have signed on to do more seasons. Unless otherwise reported or confirmed, fans should go into Lioness Season 3 as if it’s the last season.
