(KRON) — A 22-year-old man is set to be arraigned Tuesday on a murder charge after a woman died inside a San Jose home last week. Police said the suspect, Marco Jimenez, and the victim “were known to each other.”
San Jose Police Department officers responded July 15 at 12:59 a.m. to a residence in the 2100 block of Lanai Avenue on the report of a woman who was unresponsive. The woman was not conscious and not breathing, and homicide detectives later noted that she had minor visible injuries but no obvious signs of fatal trauma, SJPD said.
Despite life-saving efforts by paramedics, the victim was pronounced deceased. Jimenez was detained at the scene and released.
On July 16, the following day, the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death a homicide. The victim’s identity or her cause of death was not released by police.
Detectives contacted Jimenez in San Jose and arrested him on suspicion of murder.
His arraignment is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. Tuesday at the Hall of Justice.
