Ricki Lake got super candid about the facelift she underwent two years ago.
The former talk show host took to Instagram on Sunday, July 19, to candidly discuss the procedure she underwent, explaining why she chose to have it, what the experience was like and how she feels about the results.
“Happy 2-year anniversary to me. Yes, 2 years ago today, I had a facelift. Specifically, for those wondering, I had a deep plane lower face and neck lift along with a mild co2 laser,” Lake wrote on social media. “My incredibly talented and kind surgeon, Dr. Allen Foulad @drallenfoulad made the experience a wonderful one and my results have been remarkable, natural, and long-lasting.”
She continued, “Back in 2023, I had lost 40 lbs over the course of a year, and did not like the extra skin that hung from below my chin. It was never going to tighten up by itself. I took a leap of faith, and I’m so grateful I did. I am also very glad to see so many people over these past couple of years opening up about their own plastic surgery journeys.”
The first photo the Hairspray actress shared was a side-by-side comparison of her face before and after the surgery, with the “after” clearly showing tightened skin around her chin area and a youthful glow. She also shared additional before-and-after photos, giving followers a closer look at her appearance before the procedure and her results afterward.
Lake has been outspoken about her surgery in the past. “I’ve had a lower face and neck lift,” she told Andy Cohen in 2025. “I kind of think it’s the best facelift I’ve ever seen. My doctor, let me give a shoutout because he’s a genius, Dr. Allen Foulad, is THE best. I’ve sent many people to him.”
She added, “I love that I can talk about it. I’m fully transparent, always have been, but I don’t want there to be any stigma. This is something that was bothering me. I lost a lot of weight, and I had this sort of thing hanging, and I had it fixed.”
Another high-profile former talk-show host has been candid about her own facelift in recent months: Rosie O’Donnell. In fact, the Ireland-based TV star commented on Lake’s Instagram post, writing, “Thank u ricki ❤️❤️❤️ I did mine cause of u n our galpals.”
O’Donnell famously opened up about her own facelift in a Substack newsletter this past May, explaining that she had to overcome her shame to get the procedure and to speak publicly about it.
