Jason Bateman took arrested development quite literally when he was stopped by the police on a night out overseas.

The actor talked about the surprising moment in a July 20 episode of the SmartLess podcast, also co-hosted by Sean Hayes and Will Arnett, saying, “It happened to me once.”

“I was arrested in Monaco for being drunk and disorderly,” the Arrested Development actor, 57, began before revealing that he was wearing a “nice little leopard outfit” during his exchange with authorities.

“Fresh from the casino all banged up on cheap Champagne and a pocket full of chips. I just got rocked,” he added.

Earlier this year, the Emmy-winning Ozark alum told The Hollywood Reporter how his marriage played a part in his sobriety journey, which began because his on-and-off partying had gotten “annoyingly unpredictable.”

He shared that he and his wife, Amanda Anka, with whom he shares daughters Francesca, 19, and Maple, 14, “definitely had a few negotiations about the point at which the [partying] spigot was going to completely turn off.” He added, “She’d be like, ‘This drip, drip, drip is annoyingly unpredictable, Jason.’”

The actor has since been “California sober,” the go-to term for someone who abstains from all substances except marijuana. Bateman clarified that he’s abstained from alcohol and “the Scarface stuff” — aka, cocaine — for decades.

“Fortunately, I was living at a time without social media and camera phones, so I got away with a lot, but it was definitely close a few times,” he shared, adding that he’s seen friends experience “bottoms that were pretty chilling.”

In June, Bateman also got candid about his “complicated relationship” with money, especially having earned an income as a child actor at age 11 when he played James Cooper Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie. With both of his parents as his managers, “what I made was very helpful to our bottom line each month,” he explained during a live taping of Vulture’s Good One podcast at the Tribeca Festival in N.Y.C. He continued, “and so there was a great deal of pressure to kind of, you know, like don’t get fired.”
