This feline fur baby deserves a chance.

Some dogs and cats in shelters get continually passed up for adoption. A fur baby's breed, size, age, or even coat color can be less sought-after than others, making their chances at a forever home lessen over time. Yet these animals have so much love to give to someone who will give them a chance.

Whisk the tuxedo cat has been at the Valley Animal Center in Fresno, Calif. for almost a year and still hopes to finally be chosen.

The TikTok from @jjack.iie introduced Whisk as she sweetly stared into the camera. The pretty kitty is only a year old.

"Meet Whisk," the caption read. "A young tuxedo beauty with big, curious eyes, adorable little dotted toes, and a sweet personality that’s impossible to resist."

Despite these heartwarming qualities, no one has even asked to see Whisk since she arrived almost a year ago.

"Overlooked. No interest. No applications. Nervous. Waiting 326+ days," the on-screen text revealed.

Whisk's bio on the rescue's website noted the physical challenges she faced when she was brought in with her other family members. Thankfully, her health has improved though she needs a patient parent due to the trauma she previously experienced.

"She was rescued alongside her mama and siblings in rough shape and needed immediate treatment for GI issues, but she’s now fully healed and ready for her next chapter," the description explained. "Because of that early experience, Whisk can still be a bit shy and unsure around people, sometimes choosing to hide or hiss when she’s overwhelmed. It’s her way of saying she’s scared, not that she doesn’t care."

With love, time, and compassion, Whisk will feel the security she needs to let her true, loving personality shine through.

Why Adopting an Overlooked Cat Is So Rewarding

Cats are often overlooked for adoption due to several factors, commonly falling in these categories:

  • Senior cats
  • Black cats
  • Special needs cats
  • Shy, timid cats

Age, color, health, and personality obviously impact a potential adopter's decision, yet cats in these categories are unfairly passed up due to misconceptions. All of these felines can form strong bonds with their family members and be wonderful, lifelong companions.

When you adopt one of these pretty kitties, you are saving a life and making room for another cat to be rescued. These precious animals just need a chance to show what joy they bring, and will spend the rest of their lives thanking you with selfless love and affection.

Hopefully, someone will soon open their heart to Whisk and give her the forever home she deserves.
