There might be concerns, theories, and even psychological studies about men wanting to marry women who emulate their mothers. But to actually say it out loud? It would give most women the ick big time, but for one of The Ultimatum‘s contestants in Season 4, Jebin John, he explains on the Netflix show that he wants a new mom in the form of his future wife.
No, he isn’t kidding. And no, Jebin is not embarrassed to admit that on camera. The Ultimatum features new couples each season who are each at a crossroads in their respective relationships. One partner is ready to settle down and get engaged, while the other partner is often more hesitant. But in the end, the idea is to leave the show either engaged to someone or single. As long as one of the women, or the girlfriend Jebin started the season with, is willing to be Mommy before she even has any kids, he’s going to leave the season with a bride and Mom-to-be on his arm.
The contestant wants a woman who is just like his mom.
In a clip from The Ultimatum Season 4 that was shared on X (formerly Twitter), Jebin shares what he is looking for in a wife. Without explaining how his current girlfriend stacks up against his must-haves, he readily admits that he needs a woman who is like his mother. To be more exact, he needs a woman ready to take his mother’s place in his life as his caregiver.
“My mom, she, like, wakes up at 4 a.m. in the morning to go to work,” Jebin says in the clip. “She comes home and she gets to cooking. After dinner, there’s always a post-dinner, there’s always food in the fridge. So my wife has to be, like, my new mom, I would say.”
The fact that Jebin is far from embarrassed to admit this is the really scary part here. On the show, the women comment on how immature Jebin appears to be and the way he acts with them as they get to know each other. And his idea of the perfect woman is really just the cherry on top.
He’s basically a walking, talking red flag.
Other X users replied to the X post with the clip from The Ultimatum. Some questioned why Jebin can’t just take care of himself, while others agreed that it’s a growing problem in society for these men-children and what they are looking for in wives.
“He knows he’s been weaned off the teat right?” One person commented. “He’s no longer a helpless infant, he can literally do chores and cook as well.”
Another wrote, “They’ll demand you be their new Mommy and then act perplexed when you lose all physical attraction and respect for them.”
On a Reddit post about the same Ultimatum cast member and his behavior on the show, Redditors agreed that his red flags were hard to ignore on the show.
“Idk which I was angry about more: the fact that a man like this exists or the fact a woman brought him there because she desperately wanted to marry him smh,” a user commented on the post.
Someone also pointed out, “He’s just saying out loud what a lot of men are thinking. They want the good life like they had at their mommy’s house.”
He isn’t sure his family will support his engagement to his girlfriend.
According to his official Netflix bio for The Ultimatum, Jebin is happy with his girlfriend of six years. The issue, however, is his Indian family being unable to accept her as his future bride. He feels like if he decides to marry her, he could lose his family in the process. So even outside of his big old red flag of wanting a new mom in the form of his future wife, there’s a lot more going on.
