NBA rumors: Cleveland radio host claims LeBron James’ camp got ‘irritated’ by Adam Silver urging decision appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
LeBron James has yet to make a decision on where he’ll be playing next season, and there’s no telling when the announcement will be made. Apparently, it seems as if he was close, but after Adam Silver’s comments about him needing to rush to make a decision, they decided to hold back, according to Cleveland radio host Andy Baskin.
“Here’s what I was told yesterday by a reliable source. Last week, LeBron’s crew was probably ready to make an announcement. ‘Irritated’ was the word I was told, by the commissioner pushing them…so they decided to hold back,” Baskin said on 92.3 The Fan.
Silver made the comments last week when talking about the NBA schedule. With James being a big draw for television, it’s hard to find out what teams should be nationally televised if there’s no idea on where he’s going at the end of July.
“I guess all politics are local. The way I think about it is, we have to finish up the schedule. Where LeBron plays will affect the schedule,” Silver said. “So I would like him to make his announcement already, so we can finish the schedule, because, as you might imagine, the teams are calling us, the networks are calling us, and everybody wants to lock in the schedule.
“But it will influence how we set the schedule, how we set opening week, Christmas Day, etc. So I need him to make a decision.”
James didn’t seem to have the urge to make a decision quickly after those comments, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.
“LeBron does not care about holding the league up with its schedule. He will make them wait,” Windhorst said on NBA Today.
There’s no telling if James and his camp were truly irritated by what Silver did, but the truth is that he’s going to take his time with his decision.
