Tennessee football envisions returning to the College Football Playoffs, which helps energize its fans. But the fanbase became more fired up Wednesday. Head coach Josh Heupel and company officially landed their biggest College Football Recruiting win yet: landing five-star running back David Gabriel Georges over Ohio State and Ole Miss.
The Vols pulled off the win as Gabriel Georges made his announcement official via livestream.
“They made me feel like I was at home,” Gabriel Georges told Tom Loy of 247Sports. “And in talking to the strength and conditioning coach, I just think it’ll be a great fit. I really think I can develop and have fun with the people I’ll practice with.”

Heupel also worked his magic to get the local star from Baylor School in Chattanooga over.
“He made it clear he wanted me on the team. And that he wants to use me as a weapon,” Gabriel Georges said.
Running backs coach De’Rail Sims rose as another deciding factor in Gabriel Georges’ decision. Now he becomes the first five-star commit for the Vols in this 2027 recruiting cycle.
He’ll bring physical, downhill running to Knoxville. Gabriel Georges is lauded by national recruiting analysts for his ability to break tackles and then flip to a second gear of speed to win foot races. His combination of power and speed turned him into one of the nation’s most coveted recruits regardless of position.
He’s also Tennessee’s first verbal commit in nearly a month. The Vols landed four-star offensive lineman Q’Mari Hudson on June 13.
