My Hero Academia Officially Sets Up Deku's New Transformation

Deku lost his Quirk at the end of My Hero Academia, but he's about to be powered up with a new transformation.

My Hero Academia concluded on August 4, 2024, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #36-37 with Chapter 430. At the end of the series, Izuku Midoriya, the protagonist, officially ended up losing the power of One For All, the strongest Quirk that he was blessed with at the very beginning of the story. However, Kohei Horikoshi managed to introduce a perfect replacement for One For All for Izuku, which was handed to him 8 years after the conclusion of the Final War.

At the very end of the story, Deku unlocked a new transformation, thanks to the hero armor that he received. A year later, Kohei Horikoshi unveiled Deku's upgraded transformation in the Ultra Age Fan Book One Shot focusing on Eri, released on May 2, 2025, which was officially adapted into an anime OVA coming August 3, 2026. In this final OVA of My Hero Academia, Deku's new transformation will show us his already powerful hero armor getting an upgrade, and now, he is even stronger than before.

My Hero Academia's Final Release Sets Up A New Hero Suit Transformation For One For All Hero Deku

The final release of My Hero Academia is releasing on Crunchyroll on August 3, 2026, titled “I am a hero too.” This OVA will primarily focus on Eri, but through it, we also got a look at the other Heroes as well. Specifically, this OVA will give us a look at the new Hero rankings in Japan, which unveiled Mirio Togata to have maintained a strong grip on the Number 1 spot at the same time. Shoto Todoroki retained his Number 2 position, while Mt. Lady had climbed her way up to Number 3, showcasing herself as a very powerful new Pro Hero. In 4th place was Izuku Midoriya, the protagonist of the series, with his new Armor, and this came as a surprise to many. When Izuku was given his new hero armor, not many expected it to be that strong. After all, the armor that All Might wore 8 years ago in the battle against All for One couldn't last long in a high-level fight.

That said, it was officially stated in Chapter 430 of My Hero Academia that science had come a long way since the conclusion of the war. All the data that was collected from the war itself has been used to make the armor even better than before. This new armor that Izuku Midoriya received in My Hero Academia Chapter 430 seems to have been upgraded considerably to make it much stronger than ever before. A glimpse of this new armor will be shown to us in My Hero Academia Special Chapter titled "I Am A Hero Too," in the Ultra Age Final Fan Book, and will be adapted into an OVA on August 3, 2026.

With such powerful new armor that has been considerably upgraded, Izuku Midoriya stands as one of the most powerful new generation Pro Heroes. His new armor holds a lot of incredible new abilities that we haven't had a chance to fully witness in combat yet. However, in the next releases, if Horikoshi ever plans on doing one, we will get a proper look at this new armor.

"I wanted to give you a special gift. The data from my fight against All For One opened up room for crazy possibilities. Technology has continued to evolve alongside Quirks. Take this to heart, kid. This too is a power you've earned, fair and square." — All Might gives Deku his Armor, My Hero Academia Chapter #430

All The Abilities Of Deku's New Hero Armor

At the moment, My Hero Academia has not given us a proper fight with Izuku Midoriya utilizing his new Hero Armor that was upgraded recently, around the time he became the Number 4 hero. But it is already clear to see that he can utilize abilities similar to his old One For All, which included the powers of the Vestiges as well. Izuku was seen soaring through the skies in the Ultra Age Fan Book extra chapter, utilizing a power similar to Black Whip. Even in terms of the appearance of the whip, it looked the same as Black Whip, and it almost felt like this power was being replicated perfectly.

Kohei Horikoshi, the author of My Hero Academia, reaffirms this by stating that the Hero Armor that Izuku Midoriya has perfectly recreates the abilities of One for All, including the Vestige Quirks. It is also stated that Izuku Midoriya can combine different powers together to create a unique ability, which he also used to do with One for All. For example, Black Whip and Fa Jin could be combined together in the Final War arc of My Hero Academia. Izuku Midoriya can do something similar with the power of his new Hero Armor, which makes him that much more dangerous a hero.

Question: How does the armor that Deku received from Class A function?

Horikoshi: It tries to mimic various OFA abilities; for example, it has cable extensions that function like his ability, Black Whip. It also serves as a prototype where he can try to combine various abilities.

Why Deku Will Become The No. 1 Hero In The Future MHA Releases

Given that it only took Izuku a couple of months to climb to the Number 4 position, there is absolutely no denying the fact that he has the potential to go even higher up the hero billboard chart. Right now, the first spot is taken by Mirio Togata, who, although very powerful, should not be too difficult for Izuku or Bakugo to surpass. It must be remembered that Mirio is a very limited Hero at the end of the day, while both Izuku and Bakugo have sky-high potential. In fact, Bakugo should have been the Number 1 Hero in terms of pure strength, and the only reason he lags is because of his bad attitude, which often ends up costing him.

"The Number 4 Hero, Deku, rocketed up the Hero Charts with unprecedented hype! Feeling inspired, huh? The Great Explosive Murder God Dynamite is making an impressive leap to No. 5." — Horikoshi confirms Deku's new Hero Rank in MHA Ultra Age Final Fan Book

Now that Izuku is placed above Bakugo, we have a measuring stick of sorts, using which we can tell that he is either around the same level of power or a bit stronger. When coupled with the fact that Izuku is growing at an unprecedented rate and jumped to Number 4 Hero in a matter of months, it tells us that he is going to continue growing at this blistering pace and eventually claim higher positions until he becomes the Number 1 Hero in Japan. For now, Kohei Horikoshi has not confirmed any new release for My Hero Academia, so it is hard to say when exactly Izuku Midoriya will go on to achieve higher Hero rankings. If the author does ever return for any anniversary project, a one-shot or a new release, fans can rest assured that he is going to level up even further in terms of power and rankings.

All the manga chapters of My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi are available to read via Manga Plus and Viz Media.
