Naruto Uzumaki, Konoha's 7th Hokage in the Boruto era, is one of the strongest ninjas to have ever lived. In the Fourth Great Ninja War, which officially began in Naruto Chapter 515 on November 22, 2010, he went on to reach unprecedented levels of power. Naruto Uzumaki unlocked tremendous abilities in this war, such as full control over the power of the Nine-Tails, chakra of the other Tailed Beasts, as well as meeting the Sage of Six Paths and receiving half of his chakra to awaken Six Paths Sage Mode.
It is also here that Naruto deployed his strongest jutsu of all, that is, Six Paths: Ultra Big Ball Rasenshuriken. Unfortunately, Naruto Uzumaki's strongest jutsu is officially dead in the Boruto series, and it is time for fans to bid farewell to it forever, knowing that it can never be recreated ever again due to the massive loss of power that he suffered in the series.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Will No Longer See Naruto Use Six Paths: Ultra Big Ball Rasenshuriken
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, which officially began its run on August 20, 2023, in V-Jump Issue #10, began on a very sour note for Naruto Uzumaki. This is because the Seventh Hokage of Konoha still remains in the dimension of Daikokuten, having been sealed by Kawaki in Boruto: Naruto Next Generation's Chapter 77, released on January 19, 2023. At the moment, Kawaki does not intend to free Naruto. From the prologue of the Boruto series, we know that even when Boruto and Kawaki fight, it is highly likely that Naruto Uzumaki remains sealed. In other words, the return of the Seventh Hokage is not very likely anytime soon in this new story.
Kurama: Looks like I've collected way too much chakra. I'll send it your way now, Naruto! It's coming!
Naruto: I can feel it! All this natural energy is coming my way!

Naruto's return aside, he has also been nerfed significantly in Boruto. Not only was he forced to not utilize some of his strongest abilities, but at the same time, Naruto Uzumaki also had the powers of Kurama ripped from him. In Boruto Chapter 55, which was released officially on February 20, 2021, in V-Jump Issue #4, Kurama officially died following the usage of Baryon Mode, and as such, Naruto was no longer a Jinchuriki. Kurama explicitly stated that he was not a superhuman any longer either, meaning that he was significantly weaker at this point.
What's even more surprising is that Naruto also lost his contact with all the other Tailed Beasts following the death of Kurama, meaning he no longer has access to their chakra either. As such, Six Paths Sage Mode is now inaccessible to him. This also means Naruto can no longer tap into the power of Six Paths: Ultra Big Ball Rasenshuriken, which is his strongest jutsu to date and one that could cause devastating damage to enemies. With such a powerful jutsu no longer in his arsenal, Naruto is a lot weaker than before.
"Normally, when a Jinchuriki's Biju is extracted, they die. But that doesn't apply to you. The Biju chakra simply vanishes. It might look to others like you're dead, but you're just in a temporary state of shock. Don't worry, you'll wake up soon. The price to pay for Baryon Mode is my life, not yours. I've got to go, but be real careful. You aren't gonna have superhuman strength anymore. So if you overdo it, you'll end up joining me soon. But, until that day comes, you be well, Naruto." — Kurama confirms Naruto's loss of Jinchuriki status, Boruto Chapter #55
Naruto Uzumaki's New Strongest Jutsu Is The Super Ultra Big Ball Rasengan
While Naruto Uzumaki has lost the Six Paths: Ultra Big Ball Rasenshuriken, he does have some other new jutsu that are impressive. In the Boruto series, the most impressive new jutsu that Naruto showcased was the Super Ultra Big Ball Rasenshuriken. This jutsu was first unveiled in the battle against Delta in Boruto Chapter 33.
As is evident from the name of the technique, this jutsu sees Naruto make an absolutely massive Rasengan that is large enough to leave a crater behind. This is by far the largest Rasengan that Naruto has ever created, and in the absence of Six Paths Chakra, it is the strongest ability that he has up his sleeve that can do devastating damage to enemies. Its powers are so immense that even the Chakra absorption techniques that Delta had were completely overwhelmed by it, and she ended up being destroyed with its overwhelming chakra.
Delta: This guy has such a vast amount of chakra! Does he have no limit? How much more can be put out? What! My eye function is completely running out!
Naruto: What about this technique? This’ll be the first time you'll be hit by it directly! Savour this moment! Super Ultra Big Ball Rasengan!

Even though Naruto utilized this power in Six Paths Sage Mode, he should still have more than enough chakra to pull it off. It must be remembered that Kurama's chakra was slowly seeping into and mixing with Naruto's own to grant him absolutely massive chakra reserves. As such, over the years, a large portion of Kurama's chakra has likely become Naruto's own, which means that he should still have large enough chakra to produce techniques like this on multiple occasions in a single battle. Naruto is still a chakra powerhouse, just not on the same level as he once was, but it is highly likely that Boruto will also mend that problem later down the line in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex after he officially returns.
Why Naruto's Return Will Give Him A New Powerful Jutsu
Following the return of Naruto Uzumaki, which has officially been set up in the new post-Mamushi arc of the Boruto series, we know for a fact that the Seventh Hokage is going to grow stronger. This is because Sasuke Uchiha, his rival and equal, was confirmed to have grown significantly powerful during the timeskip training with Boruto Uzumaki in Boruto Volume #8’s release on June 1, 2026. In fact, Sasuke's strength had reached such a level that he was able to fight against Code and take one of his eyes from him in combat. Dealing such a deadly injury to Code means that he is far stronger than when he fought against Jigen. If Sasuke is this strong, then post-return Naruto is also going to be on a similar level of strength.
“During their training together to get stronger, Boruto and Sasuke's main food sources were fish and wild birds, which they hunted using Raiton and Shuriken, along with wild plants and mushrooms." — Mikio Ikemoto confirms Sasuke’s timeskip power up, Boruto Volume #8
In other words, Naruto Uzumaki is going to receive an upgrade in one way or another by Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto. Once he receives this upgrade, Naruto's overall powers are going to grow significantly, and we can rest assured that he is going to receive a flashy new jutsu that far surpasses the Super Ultra Big Ball Rasengan. For now, the focus in the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex series is on the return of Sasuke Uchiha. It is only after Sasuke returns that Naruto Uzumaki's return can be facilitated. As such, the Uchiha's return holds tremendous importance in the story. As Boruto continues in the ongoing arc, that is, the post-Mamushi arc, which focuses on Hidari and Jura, it is likely that the former will end up falling, and his Thorn Soul Bulb will be used to bring Sasuke Uchiha back. With the return of Sasuke, Konoha can then work towards the return of Naruto Uzumaki, and we absolutely cannot wait to see that.
All the chapters of Mikio Ikemoto’s Boruto series, supervised by Masashi Kishimoto, are available to read via Manga Plus and Viz Media.
