Final Fantasy 10 has held strong for the past 25 years. Yep, that's right, the 10th mainline entry in the Final Fantasy series is 25 years old, and it's hosted quite a few additional projects since then. Notably, the sequel was a hit among fans, and there are a ton of other ways Final Fantasy 10 has crept into the Square Enix universe, including in Kingdom Hearts.
While it was somewhat divisive at the time of release, the ambition of Final Fantasy 10 and its strong cast would win out over time, as the idea of fully voicing a Final Fantasy game was still new at the time. Final Fantasy 10 isn't done yet, either, as it celebrates a marquee anniversary. Thanks to a new Final Fantasy 10listing, we know that Blissful Eternity is officially releasing in August.
Square Enix recently announced the release of the next Final Fantasy TCG product: Blissful Eternity. It's out on August 7, and will feature Tidus as the key art on the pack, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy 10.
Here's a quick breakdown for collectors: "This pack also features 36 newly illustrated cards centered around works such as Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy V, Final Fantasy XI, and Stranger of Paradise. The ever-popular Special card is Sephiroth, illustrated by Tetsuya Nomura, and features the artist's foil-stamped signature just like previous cards, which adds extra appeal for collectors."
Noir cards are being introduced in Blissful Eternity, which features a monochromatic presentation with full art and printed signatures. Cloud is the only noir release in this set. The set will also include legacy cards, which are meant to be premium full-art treatments of "powerful cards" from past sets. Gilgamesh, Warrior of Light, and Mont Leonis are going to be the legacy cards. Interestingly, Square Enix highlights that special cards, noir cards, and legacy cards can all be used in official tournament play.
The Final Fantasy TCG has been around since 2016 in its current iteration, and it's been going for 10 years now globally. While it often gets memed for its lengthy card text (alongside some TCG adaptations like Dragon Ball Z), it has a large, dedicated fanbase and is still trucking amid a very crowded and competitive TCG arena.
If you're a Final Fantasy fan, you might want to look into some of these packs just for the collectibility. There's some cool card art present, especially the Nomura designs for Final Fantasy 7.
