There is now officially a "MrsBeast": YouTube star MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson (28), has married his fiancée Thea Booysen (28). The wedding took place on Richard Branson's (76) private island, according to a report by "People" magazine. Around 70 friends and family members are said to have been in attendance.
Donaldson also shared his happiness on Instagram, where he has over 500 million subscribers on YouTube. "I found MrsBeast. And it was the best day of my life", Donaldson wrote alongside pictures of the wedding couple.
A Week of Celebrations on Private Island
The festivities reportedly began on July 14 and lasted a week. The couple combined the wedding and a vacation for their invited guests. Activities such as kitesurfing or snorkeling were on the agenda. The couple was ultimately married by a pastor who is also a family friend.
First Dance to "Die With a Smile"
For the first dance at the reception, the bride and groom chose "Die With a Smile" by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars. Part of the wedding festivities also included activities that the newlywed bride jokingly described as "nerdy". Things like card and board games.
Met Over Dinner in South Africa
The YouTuber and the gamer and internet personality from South Africa met in 2022 when Donaldson visited her home country. Booysen joined a dinner with a mutual acquaintance. "When I met him, I was quite surprised by how down-to-earth he is - and how intelligent", she recalled later.
MrBeast himself described how they "clicked immediately". They began a long-distance relationship and eventually got engaged at Christmas 2024.
Over 500 Million Subscribers on YouTube
MrBeast crossed the half-billion YouTube subscriber mark just last month. "I really shouldn't be where I am today", he said at the time in a livestream. "It's actually incomprehensible that I have 500 million subscribers."
He said he had been lucky and "just relentless", even though he came from a very small town and grew up "without many opportunities". He summarized his path to success as follows: "I discovered what I love at a very young age. At eleven years old, I stumbled upon YouTube and gave it my all."
