On August 16, 2025, an 11-year-old girl gave birth inside a residence in Muskogee, Oklahoma. A DNA test revealed the baby’s father was also the 11-year-old’s stepfather. Police arrested Dustin Walker and his wife Cherie Walker following the baby’s birth. Prosecutors alleged Cherie Walker knew her husband was sexually abusing her daughter and did nothing to help her.
Neither the mother nor the stepfather took the 11-year-old for any prenatal care. It appeared no one outside the home knew of the pregnancy until after the baby was born. After a short trial, a jury convicted Cherie Walker on one count of enabling child sexual abuse and six counts of child neglect, recommending life in prison on each count.
The child’s pregnancy shocked law enforcement.
According to KJRH, the Walkers took the 11-year-old to the hospital shortly after she gave birth. A DNA test later confirmed Dustin Walker as the baby’s father. Assistant District Attorney Janet Hutson told the news outlet in 2025 that the story left her in disbelief.
“I was horror-stricken to find out it’s an 11-year-old little girl who’s given birth,” said Hutson. “And that she had no medical care, and she had no one to be with her.”
Neighbors noticed the family’s poor living conditions.
Cheryl Adkins told KJRH she called authorities about the family’s home multiple times. She believes help arrived too late.
“They have no running water for the last two or three years,” she said. “They have dogs in the house. They have cats in the house, six children.”
Adkins believed the parents knew about the 11-year-old’s pregnancy and did nothing to help her.
“This is getting to me. They robbed her of her childhood,” she said.
A jury convicted Cherie Walker following four days of testimony.
According to court documents obtained by People, jurors listened to testimonies from emergency responders, law enforcement, medical professionals, Department of Human Services employees, church members, and family members, according to the court docket. They convicted Cherie Walker on all seven counts on July 17, 2025. The jury recommended life in prison. A judge will formally sentence her later in July.
Dustin Walker was sentenced to life in prison in March 2026 after pleading guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a child younger than12 and six counts of child neglect.
The victim’s grandmother goes to trial on July 23.
Per People, Michelle Justus, the victim’s grandmother, spoke to KJRH in July 2025 defending Dusting and Cherie Walker before her arrest.
“I just want people to know, we did not know this was happening. None of us,” Justus claimed.
Justus defended the condition of the home, blaming pets rather than parents.
“We have animals, and so sometimes there’s trash on the floor because the dogs get into the trash,” she said. “It gets cleaned up. Right now, it’s probably a mess because the animals are in there. We try to let them out, but they try to keep it clean.”
She claimed the home was filled with love.
“They’ve made my daughter and my son-in-law a monster. They are not. They love those children. They love them.”
Justus faces 12 counts of child neglect and will go to trial in late July.
