When Amy Duggar announced her plans to sell her home and move, her more dedicated fans were confused and a little curious. Others, of the snarky variety, came up with possible theories about why the “rebel Duggar” cousin made the decision to move herself, her husband, and her young son from their Arkansas home.

The timing alone, during Jill Duggar’s announcement about husband Derick Dillard’s basic training for Marine Corps Officer Candidate School, was suspect for some. Now, however, Amy has shared the reason behind the big move. Because she was a little guarded before, some social  media users accused the Duggar cousin of clickbait with her previous posts. I mean, if the attention-seeking shoe fits…

It turns out, Amy Duggar isn’t moving that far.

In early July 2026, Amy posted a simple moving announcement on Instagram, but didn’t share any other details at the time. Of course that only made her followers more curious and, if we’re being honest here, that was probably Amy’s motive in the semi-cryptic post. After that, she continued to post about the big move, but didn’t share any other details. That led some to comment and wonder where Amy and her family were moving, whether it would be far from Arkansas, and what was going on.

She finally shared more details later on in July when she posted a video with the new (or, rather, old) house in it. She wrote on the screen, “We are happy to announce we moved to an old farmhouse. But this isn’t just any old farmhouse, our new home is actually Dillon’s Papa’s and Gran’s home. Who lived here for 60+ years.”

The plan, it seems, is to move in and make the home their own. Amy wrote in the caption, “The legacy continues and we cannot wait to breathe new life into this home…#stillinarkansas.”

But after she finally posted that, people were a little miffed. That was the big reveal? After the vague posts with little to no information? People joked that Amy really buried the lead with the big reveal. Someone also commented, “I love how you hoodwinked people…Lol. I am so excited to see this adventure unfold!”

People knew Amy Duggar was moving before she even announced it.

The actual details of Amy’s move might have been a secret for a while, but people who are local to her area of Arkansas knew she would be moving even before she told her fans and followers. A user on Reddit posted a screenshot from a local Facebook group that Amy posted on in May 2026. The screenshot shows Amy asking for moving boxes and supplies to pick up locally.

A user chock full of snark commented, “Jill and Derick are moving away and fAmy seems to be having some difficulty finding ways to make that all about her. There will probably be a non-article in People magazine soon about fAmy’s devastating loss of this close relationship so soon after writing her book Holy Disruptor, available on Amazon for $14.99.”

There are theories about why she moved.

According to Amy, she and her husband Dillon King wanted to keep his family home in their family, but on a separate Reddit thread, users speculated on the real reason behind the big move. According to some, they think it has to do with money. Others speculated that Amy and Dillon were paying a hefty rent or mortgage that wasn’t sustainable.

“I figured she was following Jill,” someone joked.

But, another Reddit user added, “I don’t think anybody here or anywhere else cares enough to ask this question.”
