Bryony Daniels, the 43-year-old events organiser who once served as a romantic smokescreen for the Prince of Wales during his university years, has married Adair Williams, nephew of the Duke of Sutherland, in a celebration held in the Scottish Highlands last week.

During their time at the University of St Andrews, Ms Daniels was frequently spotted alongside Prince William on campus, sparking speculation that the pair were an item.

In reality, her presence was a deliberate ploy to shield his fledgling romance with then-Catherine Middleton from media scrutiny.

Now, a quarter of a century on from those student days, Ms Daniels has found her own love story. Mr Williams, who holds a PhD in fluid dynamics following a mechanical engineering degree, and his new bride shared photographs from their nuptials on Instagram over the weekend.

The ceremony took place at Strathvaich Lodge, a traditional sporting estate nestled deep in the Highlands, with typically Scottish summer weather providing a damp backdrop. Daniels opted for an eye-catching gold gown by Emilia Wickstead, paired with a classic white veil, and was joined by one of her beloved dogs for the wedding festivities.

For their departure, the newlyweds chose a rugged Land Rover rather than a conventional wedding car. "One glorious week of being yours, and you mine," Ms Daniels wrote on Instagram.

"Suitably blessed by the ever present Highland summertime rain. Down Strath and up Monuments by hoof, foot, tank all in one day - Get away vehicle = the most handsome of landrovers."

Mr Williams posted his own tribute, writing simply: "Well done B. Magical. Xxx."

The couple's passion for the outdoors was woven throughout every aspect of the day. A mountaintop photoshoot saw Ms Daniels swap her gold gown for casual hiking gear, though she kept her flowing veil on as she posed with Mr Williams, guests and a pair of all-terrain vehicles.

Horses, dogs and even a Highland cow featured in the wedding photographs, reflecting the pair's deep connection to rural life.

The celebrations included a trek through the Highland landscape, with the wedding party travelling by a combination of horseback, foot and tank over the course of a single day.

Ms Daniels also shared images of a new Tustin handbag stamped with her married initials, describing it as her "new favourite treasure" and adding the words: "Pour mémoire."

The Prince and Princess of Wales were close friends with Ms Daniels throughout their time at St Andrews, where all three studied between 2001 and 2005.

The Suffolk heiress even participated in the same university fashion show that is said to have first caught Prince William's eye and drawn his attention to his future wife.

Their friendship endured well beyond graduation. Ms Daniels was among the guests at the royal wedding at Westminster Abbey on April, 29, 2011, and according to The Times, she was also invited to a pre-Christmas shooting party on the late Queen's Sandringham estate before the couple married.

Whether the Prince and Princess of Wales were present at Ms Daniels's own Highland nuptials has not been confirmed. Ms Daniels currently works for Liquid OPM, a company specialising in event management.

Ms Daniels revealed her engagement last November, sharing photographs from the proposal, which took place in the Highlands the previous month. She described the Scottish setting as "not EVERY girl's dream location, but that's the beauty of it," adding: "I. cried. my. eyes. out. I still do thinking about it."

The proposal involved garron ponies, a team of stalkers out on the hill, and her family waiting back at the lodge. Afterwards, the couple walked through ancient Caledonian pine forest to Loch Vaich in the sunshine.

A formal announcement subsequently appeared in The Telegraph in March, with Ms Daniels writing "at last!" alongside the news.

The pair have been settling into Mr Williams's ancestral home, Herringston House, a Tudor manor in Dorset with roots stretching back to the fourteenth century.
