ESPN's Mina Kimes is no stranger to online arguments over her NFL opinions, but she seems to have gotten locked in a war of words with Super Bowl champion and former Philadelphia Eagles star Seth Joyner.
On Monday's episode of NFL Live, Kimes spoke about the impact that Eagles rookie wide receiver Makai Lemon is likely to have for the team this coming season. But her use of the phrase "he fills a lot of the gaps" seemed to rub Joyner wrong.
Taking to X on Tuesday, Joyner started arguing with Kimes over her use of the word "gaps" and seemed to take issue with her idea that Lemon could replace wide receiver A.J. Brown's production.
"Gaps? First the oline was decimated by injury, and the OC was in way over his head! AJ was primarily an X WR and probably the top 50/50 ball WR in the NFL! Lemon is a pure slot receiver, doesn't mean he couldn't play X or Z, not likely. His success will depend on how Mannion uses him. Everyone suspects that Lemon will unlock the middle of the field vs. zone, and option and crossing route vs. man cov! Something the Eagles have shied away from! But Lemon will in no way replace AJs production, total different WR, that'll be asked to produce in a totally different way!" Joyner wrote.
The Disagreement Begins
Kimes didn't seem to like or even understand Joyner's objections and decided to reply to him and ask him to clarify.
"Seth, I'm confused what about what you're disagreeing with here--my take was that he doesn't replicate AJ at all, and will help with MOF/YAC, which has been missing in the Eagles offense for a litany of reasons," she wrote.
That remark then got Joyner upset and he wondered why Kimes was acting so "offended" by his response to her.
"I'm disagreeing with the gaps in the offense comment. The injured oline, play calling, and lack of run game were the gaps! Laura questioned about AJs production replacement, my comments were about the AJ being an X and Lemon being a slot WR! As a matter of fact we agree upon Lemon benefiting Hurts in the middle of the field in this new offense! I'm not sure what I said that offended you, but all things are up for conversation and debate, that's posted on this platform!" he wrote.
Kimes seemed content to let the issue rest there and give Joyner the last word.
