Man killed in workplace accident in New Braunfels, officials say

Cornelio Martinez, 34, of Somerset was working with a trenching crew Tuesday morning when he was fatally injured, officials said.

A Texas man is dead after an accident at a New Braunfels worksite on Tuesday, Comal County officials say. 

Cornelio Martinez, 34, of Somerset was working with a trenching crew in the  600 block of Gold Coast Drive shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday when he was fatally injured, according to the Comal County Sheriff's Office. Martinez died at the scene, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office did not provide additional details about how Martinez was injured or about the project he was working on when the accident happened. 

The sheriff's office said it is continuing to investigate the incident.
