LSU baseball veteran turns pro, won't return to Baton Rouge

Gavin Guidry officially signed with the New York Mets after the organization selected him during the 2026 MLB Draft. The ex-LSU baseball reliever is officially off to the big leagues after four years in Baton Rouge.

The Mets took Guidry at No. 480 overall in the 16th round. He dealt with injuries throughout his time at LSU but developed alongside some of the best hurlers to don the purple and gold, including Paul Skenes, Anthony Eyanson and Kade Anderson.

Guidry was a part of two national championship teams at LSU. The righty was one of the top relievers in 2023 as a true freshman, making two appearances in the College World Series finals against Florida. He pitched the final two innings of Game 3 to seal the national title for the Tigers.

After an exceptional sophomore campaign, Guidry sat out with an injury in 2025 before returning in 2026 to record career-highs with 43.2 innings and 59 strikeouts.
