Livvy Dunne had an epic clapback when the Cleveland Guardians tried to troll her boyfriend Paul Skenes.
Skenes, 24, and the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Guardians 7-1 on Sunday, July 19, but Cleveland’s social media team was feeling feisty when they scored the first run of the game due to Skenes’ error in the third inning.
The Guardians posted a clip of the play and wrote, “Job well Dunne,” on X before the game ended. The Pirates went on to win the game 7-1 and Dunne, 23, took advantage of the opportunity to remind them who ended up on top.
“Game was Dunne at 7-1 Pirates,” the Baywatch star wrote in a post on X, quoting the Guardians.
After Skenes’ error in the third led to a Guardians run, he went on to record eight strikeouts and helped lead Pittsburgh to their ninth win this season.
Dunne has been a huge supporter of her MLB star boyfriend since he was drafted by the Pirates after becoming a star at LSU, where Dunne, meanwhile, became a national champion with the Tigers’ gymnastics team. During an appearance earlier this year on The Tonight Show, she revealed to host Jimmy Fallon that she’s superstitious while watching her boyfriend on the mound.
Responding to a question from Fallon about whether she gets nervous watching Skenes play, Dunne joked, “I usually wear an Oura Ring, and it tells me I’m going to explore and die every time I watch him.”
“I’m a little superstitious,” she continued, “so I have to scream before every single pitch at the top of my lungs, ‘Let’s go, Paul!’ ”
She also joked about being “occasionally profane” while watching her boyfriend play after she was caught yelling, “F---” on Sportsnet in May. Dunne said later that she just gets “locked in” to the action while Skenes plays.
Dunne and Skenes have been romantically linked since 2023 when they were students at LSU. In October 2024, she told PEOPLE that while she and Skenes are very different, they compliment each other, “like yin and yang.”
While she loves social media, her boyfriend “doesn’t even have social media on his phone,” said Dunne. “I think that we play off of one another and make each other better. Paul definitely holds me accountable, which I really appreciate. Sometimes it’s hard to find it within yourself to do things.”
