When you come at the queen, you best not miss. That was a lesson learned by the Cleveland Guardians, who tried to troll Dunne and the Pittsburgh Pirates with a social media post. During Sunday’s series finale game between the Pirates and the Guardians at Progressive Field in Cleveland, the Guardians posted a video of Steven Kwan scoring a run in the third inning and captioned the clip with “Job well Dunne.”
It was a subtle jab at the Pirates, as Dunne is the girlfriend of Pittsburgh ace Paul Skenes, who was also his team’s starter in that contest.
On Monday, Dunne finally got around that post.

“Game was Dunne at 7-1 Pirates,” Dunne wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter), referencing the final score of that game.
As it turned out, that run was the only one allowed by Skenes and the Pirates all game long. The reigning National League Cy Young Award winner went seven innings, giving up a run on seven hits with two walks and eight strikeouts through 100 pitches. With that, Skenes improved to 9-8 to go along with a 3.43 ERA.
Dunne has always been supportive of Skenes and the Pirates, and her now-viral post only further proves how far she’ll go to defend him and the club.
The Pirates also ended up winning that series against Cleveland, with Pittsburgh also improving to 52-48 heading into the start of another interleague series on the road Monday night versus the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York.
