Investigators in Maryland are determining whether recently discovered remains could belong to a New Jersey woman who went missing one month ago.
Kimberly Gordon was last seen on June 21, according to a news release from the Baltimore County Police Department. Nearly four weeks later, officers responded to a report of suspected human remains found in a tributary of the Back River on Friday, July 17.
First responders located skeletal remains in the creek bed, sparking questions about whether they might belong to Gordon, 46.
“The remains have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the person’s identity, as well as the cause and manner of death,” the department stated in the release.
Gordon was last seen at approximately 2 p.m. local time behind a Sky Zone in Rosedale, Md., the Baltimore County Police Department previously stated in a June 29 news release. She was reported missing by the Lopatcong Township Police Department in New Jersey.
According to authorities, she was driving a white 2024 Hyundai Elantra with distinctive stickers on the side windows. Investigators believe that she might have sustained a head injury after getting involved in a car accident the day she was last seen.

Her vehicle has been “recovered” by authorities.
She was described as being 5 feet, 1 inch tall and weighing approximately 240 lbs.
