A day after Marcello Hernández had Sheinelle Jones in stitches on TODAY, Leslie Jones followed suit.
Jones stopped by TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle on July 21 to chat about her new HGTV series, “Roast My Rental,” in which the former “Saturday Night Live” star gives harsh reviews of low-rated rental properties and then helps renovate them.
To get in the spirit of the show, Jones played a game called “Roast Our Studio,” in which she rated fake flowers, a fake fruit tomato bowl, packaged bagels and the TODAY and NBC logos.
She then roasted TODAY stage manager Dave Auerbach before realizing how much taller she is than Sheinelle, and moving on to that subject.
Jones wrapped her arm around Sheinelle’s shoulder and called her an “oompa loompa” before singing the “oompa loompa” song from “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.”
Sheinelle, who is 4-foot-11, then took off her shoes to show her true height, prompting Jones to exclaim, “Girl!”
Sheinelle jumped in the air, at which point Jones picked her up like a husband carrying his new bride over the threshold, while Jenna, Sheinelle and the crew couldn’t hold back their laughter.
“That’s like, ‘I do. I do,’” Sheinelle said, perhaps alluding to the bridal image.
“She is so small,” Jones, who is 6 feet tall, said while peering into the camera before she laughed.
Sheinelle and Jones then swapped high fives as the howling continued while the segment came to an end, with Sheinelle jumping up to reach the comedian’s hands.
“We have lost our mind here in the studio!” Jones said.
You can see Jones do her roasting thing when “Roast My Rental” premieres July 24 at 10 p.m. ET.
