The Los Angeles Lakers finally know when their remade roster hits the floor for the first time. The team released its 2026-27 preseason schedule on Tuesday, a five-game slate that opens Monday, Oct. 5 in Sacramento and wraps Friday, Oct. 16 at home against the Denver Nuggets.
Los Angeles begins with an unusual back-to-back road trip, facing the Kings at Golden 1 Center on Oct. 5 before flying north to face the Warriors at Chase Center the very next night.
That opening stretch will likely mean split squads and carefully managed minutes, given how quickly it comes after training camp opens. The Lakers then return home for a rematch with Sacramento on Oct. 8 at Crypto.com Arena, sandwiched around their annual preseason trip to Las Vegas, where they will face Golden State again on Oct. 13 at T-Mobile Arena.

The exhibition slate wraps five days later against Denver back in Los Angeles.
Three of the five games technically come on the road, though the geography softens that distinction considerably, with the Kings and Warriors each appearing twice on the schedule before Denver closes things out.
The preseason carries extra weight this year given how much turnover the roster has undergone. Los Angeles enters the fall with a completely different look from the team that finished last season, headlined by a full offseason built around Luka Doncic and a re-signed Austin Reaves, along with newcomers like Walker Kessler acquired via sign-and-trade.
Every player who started the Lakers’ final playoff game last spring, including LeBron James, has since left the organization, making these five tune-up games a genuine first look at a fully reshaped rotation rather than a routine formality.
Tickets for the Las Vegas matchup against the Warriors go on sale July 24, giving fans in Nevada a chance to see the new-look roster before the games start counting. For a Lakers team that stumbled through last year’s exhibition schedule before eventually catching fire in the regular season, this five-game trial run will carry far more scrutiny than the usual preseason slate.
