The Los Angeles Lakers reportedly signed forward Arthur Kaluma to a two-way contract, according to NBA insider Shams Charania on X.
Kaluma was a standout in NBA Summer League this year after going undrafted out of Texas in 2025.
In Summer League, Kaluma averaged 18.6 points while shooting 61% from the field and 50% on more than five three-point attempts per game across five appearances. His best performance of the summer was when he scored 34 points and grabbed five rebounds in the Lakers‘ 91-70 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.
He also proved he can add depth to the Lakers’ frontcourt after losing forwards LeBron James and Rui Hachimura in free agency this offseason.
“Kaluma’s timing for a stellar summer league couldn’t be any better: The Lakers are looking for size, physicality and two-way contributors as they rebuild their frontcourt following the departures of James and Rui Hachimura,” wrote ESPN’s Ben Golliver, who named Kaluma the best undrafted player in Summer League. “… Kaluma, who went undrafted in 2025 after a four-year college career, has been a pleasant surprise on the offensive end for a Lakers team that reached the tournament’s semifinals.”
Lakers Need to Open Up A Two-Way Roster Spot for Kaluma
Now that the Lakers have signed Kaluma, the organization will need to open one of the three two-way roster spots.
Chris Manon, AK Okereke and Peter Suder were holding the three two-way roster spots before the Lakers signed Kaluma.
Manon spent the 2025-26 season with the Los Angeles on a two-way deal and signed another two-way contract with the Lakers on July 3. Then, the franchise signed Okereke to a two-way contract on July 6 following the 2026 NBA Draft.
Therefore, Suder will most likely be waived to make room for Kaluma on the Lakers’ 2026-27 roster.
