My Hero Academia reached its official conclusion on August 4, 2024, with the release of Chapter 430. A year later, Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of the series, revealed his special one-shot chapter focusing on Eri, which acted as the last release of the entire franchise on May 1, 2025, alongside the Ultra Age Fan Book.
Since then, we haven't had a new release from Kohei Horikoshi, but that could change very soon with the upcoming major event scheduled to take place in Japan on December 19, 2026. This new event is Jump Festa 2027, which has now officially been announced. As is the case every year, My Hero Academia is going to be featured at Jump Festa, and fans might get to see some new major releases lined up for the series soon enough.
Jump Festa 2027 Is Officially Confirmed For December 19, 2026
On July 20, 2026, Shueisha officially announced that Jump Festa 2027 is going to be held in Japan on December 19 and December 20, 2026. This major event is going to focus on all manga published in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump that are currently in serialization or ended recently and have some projects planned. As we know already, My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi ended just two years ago, and its last release was just one year ago, in 2025. As such, this series, despite having ended, is likely to feature in the panel of Jump Festa 2027.
Alongside My Hero Academia, other major series are also going to be featured here, and this will also likely include Black Clover, which wrapped up its run officially on May 1, 2026, with the release of Chapter 392. The series is now planning a major Volume 38 release on August 4, 2026. At the same time, fans might also get to see Jujutsu Kaisen featured at Jump Festa 2027. All the other major stories that are currently ongoing, such as One Piece, are also going to have their own stage. Up-and-coming new shonen series like Kagurabachi, Ichi the Witch, and others are going to have a stage of their own as well.
All things point to an absolutely massive new event filled with major information and exciting project announcements, which is big news for fans of My Hero Academia. For way too long, fans have been left without any new projects or updates concerning this franchise, and that is now set to change later on in December.
My Hero Academia Is Set To Be Featured At Jump Festa On December 19
My Hero Academia is an absolute mammoth of a franchise, and as such, it shouldn't come as a surprise to any fan to see it being featured at Jump Festa 2027. Previously, My Hero Academia was featured at Jump Festa 2026, despite having already wrapped up, and much of that was down to its anime series, which, at this point, still hasn't fully concluded. It is planning an OVA release titled “I Am A Hero Too” on August 3, 2026.
There are other projects for My Hero Academia that are currently being lined up that we will surely hear updates about later this year. The franchise isn't fully over, and Kohei Horikoshi and his team are likely to deliver major updates soon. All things considered, My Hero Academia is one of the most successful modern shonen franchises, and it is highly unlikely for Shueisha to let it simply rest. There is a lot more content that both Shueisha and fans can get from this brilliant franchise created by Horikoshi. For that reason alone, we are sure that My Hero Academia is going to be featured with its own stage at Jump Festa 2027, set to be held later this year.
New Upcoming Projects For The My Hero Academia Franchise Will Be Announced At Jump Festa
Among the major projects that could be highlighted at Jump Festa 2027, we have the My Hero Academia live-action movie. This movie is currently in the works, and we know for a fact that it is coming at some point in the upcoming years. Usually, movie production takes up to a year before it is officially set for release, which means that we might see the release of this movie at some point in 2027 or 2028.

So far, very little has been revealed about this movie, but that could change at Jump Festa 2027, where Kohei Horikoshi himself might reveal a message pertaining to this upcoming project that aims to make My Hero Academia a global success, even more than it already is. Fans have had mixed reactions to the news of My Hero Academia getting a live-action announcement, but if Netflix's One Piece live-action is anything to go by, My Hero Academia could succeed, especially given its superhero theme, which is very similar to that of Marvel and DC projects.
While the My Hero Academia live-action movie is likely the biggest update that we will get at Jump Festa 2027, there are other projects lined up for the series as well. My Hero Academia could potentially mark the continuation of the anime series in the form of a movie with involvement from Kohei Horikoshi. So far, My Hero Academia has delivered three movies already, and all of them have seen some involvement from Horikoshi, with the author even using his previously scrapped ideas for some. Horikoshi most certainly has some other ideas that he might want to use for movies as well. Given that these movies are largely considered non-canon in the grand scheme of things, they would not mess with the continuity of the series either. As such, My Hero Academia getting a new animated movie by Studio Bones with the supervision of Kohei Horikoshi is a possibility, and if so, it could be announced at Jump Festa 2027.
There is also My Hero Academia Vigilantes, which recently received its second season in 2026. If this anime is to be expanded upon, we will most certainly get an update on it during Jump Festa 2027 as well. These are just a couple of projects that we know are being lined up for this brilliant franchise at the moment, and soon enough, My Hero Academia will be bigger than ever before. We are eagerly waiting to see what new projects My Hero Academia will deliver in 2027, especially since it has been a while since the last major update from both the author and the studio.

Horikoshi: Yes, I'm already in the concept stage. Luckily, there is something I still want to do that I couldn't do with MHA, so I'm hoping to channel that feeling into this. When I announce my next series, I hope it will be in Weekly Shonen Jump. So, I'm working on the concept now, thinking about how I want to challenge myself to Jump one more time.

While work on this manga began a long time ago, we haven't heard any major update on it since. Given that Horikoshi is directly involved in My Hero Academia, his new manga series could be teased at Jump Festa 2027. All things considered, December is going to be absolutely massive for fans of this brilliant franchise, and hopefully we will get exciting new updates.
