The Dragon Ballfranchise is finally getting its first official remake this fall. While Dragon Ball Z: Kai recut the original DBZ's footage, it wasn't an actual remake. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be reanimating scenes, as well as adding brand-new scenes that better adapt Akira Toriyama's original notes for the series, along with Toyotarou's Dragon Ball Super manga.
Trailers for Dragon Ball Super: Beerushave only shown off the Beerus and Golden Frieza Sagas, but the franchise has finally offered fans their first look at the Universe 6 Tournament arc. The new Dragon Ball remake is bringing back one of Goku's best designs and pairing it with his OG Super Saiyan form for a revamped look.
Goku is Finally Getting His Best Outfit Back in New Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Figure
The new gi Goku gets in Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F is simply fantastic. The tunic-style top and orange coloring feels like the perfect bridge from Goku's Cell and Buu Saga Turtle School uniform, to his End of Z teal gi. Unfortunately, Goku ditched his new clothes for his classic outfit starting in the Goku Black Saga. This is a shame since Goku's Whis gi pairs beautifully with both Super Saiyan Blue and the original Super Saiyan.
Super Saiyan Goku has never looked better than he did in the Universe 6 tournament. Fortunately, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is giving Goku's best look a chance at redemption. A new GRANDISTA figure gives fans a first look at Super Saiyan Goku in his Whis gi in Dragon Ball Super: Beerus. GRANDISTA figure are premium products designed to look like they've been pulled right out of the anime, but Goku looks far better than he did with Dragon Ball Super's original art direction and animation.
The new Super Saiyan Goku figure will release between December 2026 and January 2027, which should coincide with the Universe 6 Tournament Saga in the anime. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will likely release this October, and be done with Battle of Gods and Resurrection by the end of the year. It's rumored that the first two arcs will only be around 12 episodes, leaving plenty of room for Universe 6 to start in either December or January.
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Might End With the Universe 6 Saga
Unfortunately, it's entirely possible Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will actually end with the Universe 6 Tournament Saga. A production leak earlier this year in April revealed that the staff of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will be moving onto Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol before remaking the Goku Black Saga. This would expedite The Galactic Patrol's release, meaning the anime could start the Moro Saga as early as next Spring, but it would be a shame to leave the remake in limbo.
It seems like the current plan is for Dragon Ball Super: Beerus to remake the first three story arcs, followed by Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol's premiere, and then the rest of the Dragon Ball Super remake while the anime team starts working on the Granolah the Survivor Saga. Based on this timeline, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus runs from Fall 2026 to early 2027, The Galactic Patrol airs throughout 2027, the rest of the DBS remake in 2028, and then the Granolah the Survivor anime in 2029. Who knows? By then, the Dragon Ball Super manga may finally be back from hiatus.
