Shadow and Jackie are Big Bear's famous bald eagles who recently welcomed two eaglets that they've been raising in front of millions of viewers watching their nest cameras. Sadly, Jackie had rarely been seen since the Fourth of July, when fireworks reportedly startled her away from the nest. She had only been spotted a handful of times afterward, leaving many fans worried.
According to KTLA 5, Friends of Big Bear Valley, the environmental organization that operates the nest cameras, reported that an adult bald eagle was found injured on the north end of Big Bear Lake on July 16 and 17 after an altercation with two subadult (or "teenage") bald eagles. The younger birds appeared to attack her in an attempt to steal the fish she had caught.
Fortunately, rescuers were able to safely capture Jackie, and she is now receiving expert care. As ABC News reported on the afternoon of July 21, she's currently recovering and undergoing diagnostic testing. While her road to recovery is just beginning, the news that she's alive has brought enormous relief to the countless fans who have been hoping for her safe return to Shadow and their two eaglets.
Friends of Big Bear Valley also told KTLA 5 that she's in the best place she could be to receive the care she needs. One commenter agreed and shared, "Ojai Raptor Center is the most amazing rescue and rehabilitation facility! Jackie and many other raptors are in the best of care!"

Friends of Big Bear Valley Shares New Update on Jackie's Recovery
On the afternoon of July 21st, Friends of Big Bear Valley shared an update for their fans on Jackie's injuries and recovery on Facebook.
"An update from Ojai Raptor Center this morning.
They are still waiting on results for any sign of lead, zinc or rodenticide levels. Jackie is anemic and has inflammation affecting her kidneys. They are unsure of the underlying issue causing these symptoms. The center is working with several specialist veterinarians to determine the best supportive care for the moment.
We loved hearing that Jackie has more energy this morning. She is mad and fighting the staff… That’s our Jackie, a strong and mighty eagle!
She is eating well with assistance and is even picking up food on her own. She is still standing up and perching.
They did do x-rays and there were no fishing hooks, sinkers or other metal objects observed.
We will keep updating you the minute we hear any new information. Thank you for your support, well wishes to Jackie and the entire eagle family.
Keep the positive energy and prayers coming.
The FOBBV Team"
We're all rooting for her to make a full recovery so she can get back to Shadow and their babies still in the nest very soon.
