Rocco starts this video looking like he is expecting the best news of his life. Shared by @hope4miamipaws, the sweet shelter dog waits eagerly to hear whether any kind human came to meet him after thousands of people watched his story. His tail is already wagging before the answer even comes. Sadly, it isn’t the one he was hoping for. After another day passes without a visitor, the 5-year-old Terrier mix quietly heads back to his kennel, still believing tomorrow might finally be different.
Shelter dog still wakes up alone in the kennel, hoping somebody will come for him one day
The video opens with Rocco sitting happily on the shelter yard’s turf, practically glowing with excitement. From his point of view, the on-screen text asks, “Did I get any interest from my video??!!” He wags his tail, pops up onto his feet, then sits back down again, looking completely convinced that good news is on the way.
Instead, the next caption simply reads, “None??!!” For a second, Rocco just stares back at the camera, almost as if he is waiting to hear something different. Then the video cuts to him back inside his kennel. His expression is much quieter now as another caption appears: “Okay… I’ll just wait in my kennel.” It’s a simple moment, but it’s hard not to feel for him.
According to the caption, Rocco’s earlier adoption appeal reached thousands of people and inspired plenty of support online. Still, when the shelter doors opened the next morning, nobody had come to meet him. Even after 383 days of waiting, the shelter dog continues greeting humans at his kennel with the same hopeful attitude that first made volunteers fall for him.
The post describes the 5-year-old Terrier mix as affectionate, potty trained, easy to walk on a leash, and happiest when he is close enough for cuddles. He is also dog-friendly with proper introductions, giving him all the qualities many families say they are looking for.
The touching video has drawn thousands of likes, with viewers filling the comments with rescue pledges and adoption appeals. For now, though, Rocco is still waiting in the very place where every morning begins, hoping the next person who stops by will finally take him home.
