With the ever-exciting release of Palworld 1.0, we have seen various new additions to the long-running Early Access title. This is a game that has been around for over two years, and while Pocketpair, the developers, have been in constant battle with Nintendo for their resemblance of various properties, they continue to bring some of the most addicting and enjoyable survival content out there.
Now that 1.0 is released, we have a full vision of the story. While the plot is pretty mediocre in general, it does take us around the vast world that has been established, with finally the World Tree being opened up. If you’re able to get through the fight with Panthalus and capture the giant whale, you will gain access to a completely new area, but there’s a little more to it than that meets the eye.
What Materials Can You Gather?
Every other biome in Palworld has its own variety of materials that can be collected. Feybreak has Chromite and Hexolite, Sunreach has Soralite and now the World Tree has Paloxite and Mythical Wood.
Paloxite actually looks pretty similar to Hexolite in that it’s a cluster of crystals formed in the ground, whereas Mythical Wood is one of the few timber that can be farmed in the game. Both of these materials can be used for the most advanced recipes that are found near the end of the Technology Tree.
How to Gather Materials in the World Tree
Gathering materials in the World Tree is a little different than how you normally would in the open world. Normally, you’d just go up to a gathering point and swing your axe or pickaxe at it. While that is still the case for the most part, you will have to interact with the new system of Holy Water.
The World Tree and its inhabitants produce something that’s called Holy Water. It’s something you’re only able to obtain by knocking out Pals and taking their loot. It’s another RNG aspect where you might not even be able to get the Holy Water upon looting their corpse, while other times they might drop a whopping five.
Once you have the Holy Water, you will then need to drink it. Go into the menu, select it and use it on your character’s character. This will give you a blue aura around yourself. This will allow you to actually go up to a harvesting node and be able to cut it down or mine it for its materials.
If you don’t use Holy Water, be it a Paloxite cluster or even coming close to a Mythical tree while flying by, these gathering points will disappear completely. They essentially disintegrate right in front of you if you haven’t washed your hands with the Holy Water.
Because of this, always have Holy Water handy while in the World Tree. With that said, if you have the handy-dandy Plasma Multicutter, every time you use a single vial of Holy Water, you’ll likely only be able to harvest a couple of points because, like most ores and timber, Paloxite and Mythical Wood weigh a ton.
And with that, you now know how to harvest in the World Tree. The Holy Water itself only lasts between ten and twenty seconds, so make sure to take advantage of the short window. There are areas that are best for this in the World Tree.
