Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White is not too worried about guard Caitlin Clark possibly getting an automatic suspension.

The Indiana Fever notched their third straight win after blowing out the Connecticut Sun, 123-88, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday. The Fever also set multiple records with their high-scoring performance.

It, however, came at a cost, as Caitlin Clark was whistled for her seventh technical foul. Another one would lead to an automatic suspension. Given her mercurial character when she is on the court, an eighth technical foul seems inevitable.

Clark, however, downplayed the possibility, saying she “cannot predict the future.” Fever coach Stephanie White was as candid, another proof that they are not alarmed by it.

“She’s just gotta pick and choose, right?” said White in the video posted by The Athletic’s James Boyd.

“I think the biggest thing is she knows. She has awareness about it. We’ll try to help her when we can, but sometimes we can’t. If she wants to be strategic about which game she doesn’t want to play, then she’ll let ‘er fly.”

The 24-year-old Clark had a verbal altercation with Saniya Rivers in the third quarter. They were each assessed a technical foul.

Clark maintained that she “will never back down” from any challenge, although she recognizes her value to the Fever. So far, the three-time All-Star has incurred 15 technical fouls in 76 games in her career.

She had game-highs of 27 points and 11 assists against the Sun. She is averaging 29.6 points and 9.3 assists amid their winning streak.

The Fever have an extended break before beginning their three-game road trip on Tuesday versus the Seattle Storm. After that, they will battle the Portland Fire and the Minnesota Lynx.
