Dragon Ball reveals new ultra-powerful Goku form for next major release

Dragon Ball Super’s New Anime Will Surpass DBZ in 1 Major Way That Changes Everything
Dragon Ball Reveals New Ultra-Powerful Goku Form For Next Major Release

Dragon Ball reveals a new powerful transformation for Goku as the Xenoverse 2 era comes to an end, setting the stage for Xenoverse 3 in 2027.

Dragon Ball, the iconic forty-plus-year-old franchise that only gets more popular as time passes, is officially entering a new era in 2026. Through its many phases, including long periods of inactivity, Dragon Ball has remained one of the most successful titles in anime and manga history, and has branched out to several other forms of entertainment allowing the series to retain its powerhouse status.

This year, Dragon Ball will begin its trek into unknown territory, returning to TV and gaming without the oversight of its legendary creator, Akira Toriyama. Since the artist's passing in 2024, the series has been somewhat stagnant, though a slew of new projects announced at the 40th anniversary special event in Tokyo signal that Goku and company are ready to take on a new era of Dragon Ball. And with the arrival of new projects comes the phasing out of old, as Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 saw the release of its final DLC on July 8th.

For many, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has been the go-to Dragon Ball game for a decade, having been released in 2016 and remaining the most current entry in the series until Xenoverse 3 was officially announced this year. As a parting gift to players, the game's final Future Saga DLC is giving Goku an all-new, ultra-powerful transformation.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2's Future Saga 4 DLC brings Fu's time experiments to a close after a decade-long story spanning a base game and several DLC add-ons. The latest addition includes, most notably, a new transformation for Goku, officially called Ultra Supervillain Quelled, but also known by many players as Ultra Superhero. The transformation opposes Ultra Supervillain, a form which gives fighters a red aura when corrupted by Fu.

Goku's Ultra Supervillain Quelled instead takes on the appearance of Ultra Instinct, though with a blue/green aura, and gives the series' leading Saiyan a stronger power-up than anything he's been able to achieve in any official Dragon Ball anime or manga series. In opposition to Goku's new form, Fu also unleashes a new power-up of his own, and one that promises to make him one of the franchise's strongest villains ever.

Though it was announced months in advance that the game's latest DLC would be its last, fans and players of the series have expressed feeling a certain sort of sadness that Xenoverse 2, a game many spent several years of their lives playing and following, would officially be coming to an end with the release. Fortunately, its finale has brought along a stylish and powerful new transformation for Goku as a parting gift to its fan base.

Those saddened by the completion of Xenoverse 2's long run won't have much to be sad about for long, as Dragon Ball will be entering a new era later this year, which will ultimately lead to the release of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 in 2027. The very long-awaited entry in the series was finally revealed during the franchise's 40th anniversary special event in Tokyo earlier this year, showcased alongside other major announcements including the return of Dragon Ball Super to TV.

It's the end of a decade-long era in gaming for Dragon Ball, with one of its most successful titles finally being laid to rest. It's unlikely Goku's new form will appear anywhere in the franchise aside from the Xenoverse series, though the possibility of a collaboration with Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle remains open after the mobile game introduced Ultra Supervillain Vegeta as a summonable gacha character earlier this year.
