Dontayvion Wicks sounds off on Packers trading him to the Eagles

Few of the Packers‘ offseason moves have the potential to make more of a significant impact on the season ahead than Green Bay trading wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Moving off Wicks cleared the path for Christian Watson and Matthew Golden to ascend to the top of the depth chart and thrust Jayden Reed into an even more prominent role in quarterback Jordan Love’s supporting cast.

In Philadelphia, Wicks will likely be competing with first-round rookie Makai Lemon for a starting job opposite DeVonta Smith, and could play a more promiennt role in the Eagles’ offense than he did during his time with the Packers.

“I just want to say I’m blessed to be able to be in this position,” Wicks said, via the team’s website. “It just showed me the value and love that Philly has for me and I want to come out and show what I’m worth.”

Last season, Wicks caught 30 passes for 332 yards and two touchdowns, but has never caught more than 40 passes in a single season.

Wicks sounds motivated to prove his detrators, and the Packers, wrong after being traded away from Green Bay.
