It does not appear that the LeBron James sweepstakes will end anytime soon, as rumors have suggested the 41-year-old forward is still unsure of where he wants to play next season. While the Golden State Warriors have been rumored to be in the mix since the beginning of the offseason, NBA insider Dave McMenamin shared some information that should leave Dubs fans optimistic.
While discussing the potential landing spots the 23-year veteran could sign with on SportsCenter, McMenamin refused to eliminate the Warriors as a possible destination for James. If anything, it sounds like Golden State might be a finalist amongst LeBron’s choices.
“Miami, Philadelphia, and Cleveland, and then the Golden State Warriors,” McMenamin said. “No one’s ever eliminated them from contention in the conversations I had. So, now LeBron’s just using the information he has, talking to his family. And as Rich Paul mentioned, he’s not just thinking about basketball. He’s thinking about legacy, he’s thinking about family, he’s thinking about travel, location. All of these things. A multi-layer decision.”

Based on McMenamin’s claims, everyone is still in the mix for James. For the Warriors, the organization is rumored to be at the top of LeBron James’ list thanks to Draymond Green’s pitch, per ClutchPoints’ NBA insider Brett Siegel.
The 22-time All-Star will have a chance to compete for his fifth NBA title next season. But that will ultimately depend on which organization he chooses to sign with. James is coming off a 2025-26 campaign where he averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game with the Los Angeles Lakers while shooting 51.5% from the field and 31.7% from three-point range.
