Craig Melvin gave fans pause after he shared an intimate photo on social media.
Melvin, 47, posted on his Instagram account on Tuesday, sharing a photo to his grid feed. The Today show anchor took to social media, sharing a photo of his crossed feet in flip-flops on the beach. The ocean and a large blue towel filled the background of the photo, which Melvin captioned: “Out of office… Nothing like hanging with the family. Hope you’re enjoying this summer too.”
However, fans were not thrilled with his feet, with one commenting, “Good for you and your family... Kid, time for a pedicure.” Melvin’s post comes just days after a man named Andrew Truelove broke into the Today show’s A1-Studio in the NBC Studios in New York’s Rockefeller Center, attacking Melvin with racial slurs as he searched for weatherman Al Roker.

“At least you got the flip-flop right! @olukai is the greatest ever. (Not paid to say that!) enjoy your break, my man,” wrote Today co-host Carson Daly. OluKai flip-flops are Hawaiian-inspired shoes.
“After that stuff at work, I get it. Wouldn’t be mad if you took a tour of the villages!!” wrote one fan, attaching a winky emoticon to the end of the message. Melvin had allegedly planned his vacation before Truelove, 41, broke into NBC. A security guard was fired from the Today show after the intruder successfully bypassed security. Truelove was arrested and faces two felony charges: burglary in the third degree as a hate crime and menacing in the third degree as a hate crime.
Truelove’s NBC break-in occurred around 9 AM on July 16, just before the Today show began taping. He was seeking out Al Roker, but failed. He then found Melvin, whom he shouted racial slurs at and lunged towards. Truelove was quickly taken into police custody.
Multiple users in Melvin’s comments made jokes about the anchor showing off his feet to an audience “for free.” One even wrote, “Hope no one tries to sell this foot pic!” Other fans questioned which beach Melvin was relaxing at, with some identifying his location as South Carolina. One user lambasted another for asking about Melvin’s location, writing that no celebrity would share their location.
“Nothing better than a chill day at the beach!” added a comment in support of Melvin’s family vacation trip.
“Craig, hope you are enjoying your vacation, and we can’t wait to see you back on Today!” commented a Today show fan. Many added that the host was taking a well-deserved break from the hit morning show.
