Kelly Clarkson made a candid comment about being fired by NBC following the announcement that her eponymous talk show would be coming to an end.

The host announced earlier this year that The Kelly Clarkson Show will conclude its run this fall after seven seasons on the air. Kelly had decided to step away from the show to spend more time with her two kids, River and Remington, especially in the wake of the passing of their dad Brandon Blackstock.

"Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives," she wrote at the time. "This isn't goodbye. I'll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you may catch me on The Voice from time to time…you never know where I might show up next."

However, while performing at her July 17 show at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas the singer made a joke about her exit. "I would get fired by NBC but I don't work there anymore," she said. She told the audience that she is "sad" her talk show ended because "it was a fun show".

The Kelly Clarkson Show premiered on September 9, 2019, and ran for seven successful seasons. Kelly wrapped production at the beginning of the summer with the final episode expected to air in the fall.
